Meryl Streep was on FIRE at the 74th Golden Globe Awards that took place last week! She slammed Donald Trump and in her speech and left everyone in awe of her. The 67 year old actress was awarded the Cecil B. DeMille Award at the Golden Globes on January 9. As her acceptance speech Streep took the opportunity and talked about US President-elect Donald Trump, and protecting press. Interestingly, while taking digs at Trump, she did not even mention his name once.

“Whether you are a celebrity or you are not a celebrity, all of us have a responsibility towards the society,” he also added. From Bollywood too, a lot of actors just couldn’t help but sing praises of her. Bollywood celebrities like Priyanka Chopra and Sonam Kapoor hailed Meryl Streep for taking on the US President-elect and after Donald Trump called her an “over-rated actress”.

Sonam also dubbed Trump a “joker”. The actress who is best known for roles in films like Mamma Mia!, The Devil Wears Prada, Silkwood and It’s Complicated, spoke of how upsetting it was when he imitated a disabled reporter during a speech in 2015. Aamir Khan is the latest actor to have reacted to Meryl Streep’s speech.

During a media interaction today, he said, “We can’t expect only celebrities to work upon a cause, all of us ought to play a role. Each of us has a role in the society that is what makes us a society,” and yep he hit the nail on the head. This is a perfect reply to those people as well who are questioning the Indian celebs for not standing up for a cause like Meryl Streep.

Aamir, on being asked if heconsiders Salman and Shah Rukh as his competitors he said, “There is Ajay (Devgn), Hrithik (Roshan), Ranbir (Kapoor), Ranveer (Singh) – there are so many actors there who are wonderful. I am not a competitive person by nature.

When I see somebody’s good work, I love it. When I saw Sultan, Dabbang – I loved it! When I saw Munnabhai, I loved Sanjay’s (Dutt) work. When I see Ranbir-Ranveer’s work, it really inspires me, makes me happy.
