Aamir Khan’s latest Dangal is a family film. It’s gigantic success proves that India loves a good hearted family film. Proving the point further are a few letters that Aamir has received.
A few single screen theater owner have penned down their thoughts about Dangal. They are all thanking Aamir for making Dangal, which has brought back their cineplexes to life. The letters addressed by Single Screen theater owners expressed how year 2015 and 2016 witnessed a major low by the film business, making it difficult for them to survive in the business. Letters written by exhibitors and distributors to Aamir Khan were full of gratitude and narrated how they felt they got a lease of life with the tremendous response to Dangal.
One letter, written by a theater owner in Raigarh, says that it has been realised with Dangal that there is not a lack of cinema but lack of GOOD cinema that will actually bring people to theaters. What a great point made! Don’t you feel?
Another letter, written by an exhibitor from Dasna, Ghaziabad district, requests Aamir Khan to make movies like Dangal. The letter also discloses that the theater owner was at the verge of shutting down his theater.
Aamir Khan says, “It has been a very exciting and fulfilling journey. When I look back at my career, all my decisions — on the face of it — have mostly been impractical and risky, with the latest instance being Dangal (2016). Also, I have been able to do the kind of work that I believe in. Not all of us are lucky enough to be in the position where you can choose to do what you want. I feel very grateful to be in that position. I am able to do the work that I love”.
