Not many would’ve thought that when Baby released in 2015, the film have such an impact that it’ll become India’s first film to have a spin-off and will kick off, what is only be seen in Hollywood films so far, a cinematic universe. The first spin off of the film Naam Shabana is up for release on March 31 and if a report by mid-day is to be believed then the makers are planning to have more such films as Baby was an ensemble with strong characters be it Rana Daggubati’s, Manoj Bajpayee’s, Anupam Kher’s or Danny Denzongpa’s. Talking about the same, a source told mid-day, “The original film featured a strong ensemble cast and there is a potential to explore the backstory of each of them. The makers have decided to explore that possibility.”
While the makers are indeed toying with the idea, they haven’t zeroed in on any particular character yet. Anupam Kher, who plays Shukla Ji in the films said, “It’s an interesting idea. It would be exciting if the next spin-off on Baby is made on my character, which I feel has great potential. Coming back to Naam Shabana, the film stars Taapsee Pannu in the role of Shabana Khan, along with Manoj Bajpayee, Danny Denzongpa, Anupam Kher and Akshay Kumar. Taapsee had a 20 minute role in Baby. Naam Shabana, will revolve around, Shaban Khan and will delve into the how she became an undercover special agent. Side by side, the film will also follow one of her secret mission
