The box office is gleaming with pride, finally a series of flops and a dry spell is over. The huge rise in the ticket sales of Akshay Kumar’s new film ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’ has brought a bumper surprise for the profit-hungry Bollywood. Full marks for striking successfully ‘below the belt’!

Twinkle Khanna has posted a “caught in action” kind of tweet, rejoicing the film’s success.

She tweeted, “So even the box office needed this Toilet eventually to break free from its constipation. Hit Hit Hooray.”

We all know Twinkle Khanna’s skill with the words. How we wish, we could say that to someone actually “in action”, as the movie shows, where people are happy in their “ignorance is bliss” mode.

The film has garnered Rs. 51.45 crores during its first weekend, much beyond everyone’s expectations.

Akshay’s film has fetched Rs. 51.45 crores in its opening weekend, reports trade analyst Taran Adarsh, who business of Rs. 48 crore.

In an earlier tweet, Mr Adarsh described the film’s performance as having “pumped oxygen in the lungs of an ailing film industry.”

Film trade got a boost by the film, the theme that completely blends with what our Prime Minister conceptualised, ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan’. The film will be screened tax-free in Uttar Pradesh.

After a series of major flops that include he likes of Tubelight, Jab Harry Met Sejal and Jagga Jasoos, to name a few, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, has infused fresh air in Bollywood as well as the box office.

The film, starring Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar, may have won a million hearts now, but it opened to consistent sad reviews on Friday. Critics criticized the film as a glorified advertisement for the Swachh Bharat drive and dismissed the film’s screenplay as little more than a ‘government pamphlet.’

Nevertheless, the theatres have been crowded over the long weekend, making it a must watch. Ahead of its release, Hrithik Roshan tweeted, Akshay Kumar needs no good luck messages.
