The recent news of a Malayalam actress’ abduction and molestation has shocked the entire nation, again raising the question yet again: Are women safe in this country? Alia Bhatt expresses disdain and sadness at the state of affairs, adding, “It’s something which is not getting better at all. It makes me more sad than worried, though.” Clearly unnerved by the act, she iterates, “It all seems so unnatural, like things that happen only in scary movies. It’s shocking that it can happen to any of us walking on the road right now. I don’t know who to turn to and question why all this has happened. There’s no answer.”
However, the incident hasn’t rattled her enough to beef up her own security. She admits she didn’t do it “because it didn’t cross my mind at all but yeah, it could happen to anybody. But I think it’s something we have to take up seriously.” But she ends any further conversation and concludes, “I don’t want to talk too much about it because I anyway feel there’s a lot of attention on it and I’m sure that’s the last thing someone who’s going through all this, would want right now. She would not want any more attention.”
Rightly said, Miss Bhatt. Ever since news of molestation of the actress surfaced, a lot of shocking rumours have started doing the rounds. From the involvement of some of the big names in South industry to the arrest of the accused have left the industry members, both South as well as Bollywood, in a state of shock.
