There is hardly a movie’s soundtrack without one song crooned by Arijit Singh. Badrinath Ki Dulhania is no exception. A sad song featuring the soothing voice of the millennial favourite singer has hit the internet, and it is a charmer. Titled, Roke Na Ruke Naina, shows us the sadder side of Badrinath, and his Dulhania’s romance. Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan play their part well in the song. Especially the opening scene of the film. It hits you right in the feels.
Also, we need to take a moment to talk about Arijit Singh. Enough. We are overdoing Arijit Singh now. We are using him like how potato is used in Indian food- in every second meal. The singer is immensely talented but needs to experiment with the type of songs he chooses. There is absolutely no need for him to be a part of every film’s soundtrack. Like in Roke Na Ruke, there is no denying that the song is beautiful but it is no Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. His potential is not fully used in this number.
The lyrics are beautiful, and will be speak to the lonely and hurting hearts.
For all those who have been wondering if Badrinath is a sequel to Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania, filmmaker Shashank Khaitan confirmed recently that it’s not. He explained, “When I first wrote the story of Badrinath Ki Dulhania, I just had a story without a title. It was a pure heartland love story. Immediately after I narrated the script to Karan (Johar, producer), he told me there was nothing in common between this one and Humpty. The stories are connected by themes of love and wedding, but it’s not a sequel.”
