Just last week Hugh Jackman revealed that his cancer had returned for the sixth time and he is undergoing the treatment again. And turns out he is a superhero not only on-screen but off it as well.
His sheer willpower has helped him kick cancer’s butt for the sixth time. Sharing the good news on Instagram, Hugh wrote, “Obrigado São Paulo, obrigado Brasil, feliz carnaval! Saúde! #wponx @20thcenturyfox” which translates to, “Thank you São Paulo, thank you Brazil. Happy Carnival! Health!”
The clip which he shared along with caption has him mouthing the same lines while toasting a drink to good health just a week after having the basal cell carcinoma removed for the sixth time.
Hugh is busy touring the world for the promotion of his upcoming superhero flick, Logan and is currently spreading the cheer in Brazil. He has been treated for cancer five times in the past and has since then always urged people to wear sunscreen.
Talking about his cancer during the premiere of Logan at the Berlin Film Festival, Hugh had been quoted in a Telegraph report as saying that, “It is fine, it is all done, all fixed, all out. Thank you for asking.”
In an earlier post, while announcing the return of his cancer, Jackman had stated, “Another basal cell carcinoma. Thanks to frequent body checks and amazing doctors, all is well. Looks worse with the dressing on than off. I swear! #wearsunscreen.”
According to science, basal cell carcinoma usually generates due to open sores, red patches, pink growths, shiny bumps, or scars. The disease has its effects on the epidermis layer of skin. Although Jackman got it treated in its early stages, way back in November 2013, due to its recurring nature, there was a remission. It has been found that while cancer can be killed once and for all, in certain cases it makes an encore.
Hugh Jackman will next be seen as superhero Wolverine for last time in the May 3 release, Logan.
