We are pretty used to seeing an Akshay Kumar film release on the Republic Day weekend. All ‘patriotic’ dates belong to him including Independence Day. In fact, in 2015, he had a release on October 2 (Singh is Bliing). But Republic Day 2017 was an exception with Shah Rukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan owning the box office with Raees and Kaabil. And now we found out that there will be none of them in the next Republic Day. Yes, no Akshay, Shah Rukh or Hrithik but Sidharth Malhotra will be seen trying his luck at the box office next year on this occasion. He is part of Neeraj Pandey’s next directorial which will release on R-Day 2018.
According to Mumbai Mirror, Manoj Bajpayee too is part of the film which will deal with the mentor and protege relationship. Like Special Chabbis, this too will be based on true life events. A source told the daily, “These incredible characters exist and the incident actually happened. Neeraj was looking to explore a different kind of a story after MS Dhoni: The Untold Story. He has put together a great ensemble cast, along with Sidharth and Manoj.” This surely would be a great opportunity for Sidharth to work with Neeraj Pandey who is known to do different cinema. He gave Sushant Singh Rajput his biggest hit ever in M S Dhoni – The Untold Story and if all goes well, Sidharth might get his second Rs 100 crore after Ek Villain. The film will be shot in Delhi, London and Kashmir. Pandey prefers real locations for his films and this won’t be an exception either. The shoot will begin from May. This year, Sidharth will be seen in Reloaded which is the sequel to Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif’s Bang Bang. Also, if Ittefaq remake wraps up soon enough, he might have another release as well.
