Diljit Dosanjh had established himself in Bollywood after his much applauded debut with Udta Punjab last year. The singer-actor, who is already a famous name in Punjab, is now busy with the promotions of his next Bollywood film, Phillauri, that pairs him with Anushka Sharma.

The film has been garnering much attention in the last few days. And now the makers of the film have released a song from the film. Sung by Diljit Dosanjh, the reprised verion of Dum Dum is a soulful melody. For Udta Punjab, too, Diljit had gone behind the mic and sung ‘Ikk kudi’ with Alia Bhatt. But this time around, he is running the show on his own. While the song has been composed by Shashwat Sachdev, the other version was sung by Romy and Vivek Hariharan.

The video of the song is also rather interesting. It features Diljit on the mic and lapses into what seems to be a montage of his and Anushka’s love story from the film. The song also boasts of some interesting lyrics. It goes, “Dum dum udti hai hawa…sau pankh laga tere naam ke.” Unlike other sufi-esque tracks, this one doesn’t indulge in romanticised visuals and the results are rather enchanting. Anvita Dutt has penned the lyrics for the song. Dum Dum also has a Punjabi version and considering the fact that Diljit is a big name there, the song might as well become a rage.

Phillauri is Anushka Sharma’s second production venture. The film is scheduled to release on March 24. Shot extensively in Punjab, the film features Diljit Dosanjh, Suraj Sharma, Mehreen Pirzada and Anushka in key roles. Directed by debutant Anshai Lal and written by Anvita Dutt, the film’s shoot had begun on Baisakhi last year and the shooting wrapped in June. Co-produced by Fox Star Studios and Clean Slate Films – Anushka’s production banner with brother Karnesh Sharma Phillauri is a romantic-horror set in Phillaur.
