Last year in December the first look poster of Sanjay Dutt‘s comeback film Bhoomi was launched and the poster stated the release date as August 4, 2017. Later in December the first teaser of Aamir Khan’s upcoming production Secret Superstar was launched and that too stated the release date as August 4, 2017. This obviously started the whole discussion of Sanjay Dutt vs. Aamir Khan at the box office. Interestingly, Sanjay’s last release was PK that starred Aamir Khan in the titular role and his return on the big screen too was alongside Aamir Khan, sort of. While in PK he played Aamir’s friend, here it was more of foe kinda situation. But looks like Sanjay Dutt has taken a cue out of messy clash that everyone witnessed earlier this year in Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees and Hrithik Roshan’s Kaabil and has decided to delay the release of his comeback film in order to avoid clash with his good friend Aamir Khan’s film.
A source told mid-day, “Dutt doesn’t want to clash with Aamir since they both go a long way. We have seen no matter how professional people act, box office contests eventually gets dirty, even between close friends (hinting at the ping-pong comments between Hrithik-Rakesh Roshan and SRK-Ritesh Sidhwani). Moreover, Aamir’s is a small budget film, riding solely on content. A star clash could affect it.” Also read: Sanjay Dutt INJURED on the sets of Bhoomi, doctors advise complete rest
It is reported that Sanjay Dutt requested the producers of Bhoomi to push the release date to another Friday. Sanjay Dutt told mid-day, “I know the kind of hard work and effort that goes into making a film. I believe, after all the work being put in, it can’t be reduced to a clash at the box office. Aamir is a dear friend and I wouldn’t want my comeback film to be pitted against his. In this industry we should all make an effort to help each other.”
