Sonam Kapoor is currently busy spending time with her family in London. She is there since March 23, with her sister Rhea, cousin Anshula, businessman-boyfriend Anand Ahuja and UK-based designer friends, Tamara Ralph, Michael Russo and Anooshe Mussarat to bring in her mother Sunita’s 60th birthday. She was also seen catching up with her Veere Di Wedding co-star Kareena Kapoor Khan there. According to a report by Mumbai Mirror, she is soon be returning to India to join the shoot of R Balki’s Padman, that stars Akshay Kumar and Radhika Apte as the lead pair.

The film, based on Arunachalam Muruganantham, the inventor of a low-cost sanitary pad-making machine in India, started the shoot in Indore, last month.

As mentioned above, while the film features Radhika Apte as Akshay’s wife, the details about Sonam’s character are not known. When R Balki was contacted by Mirror, he dismissed rumours that suggested Sonam is playing the role of a journalist in the film.

Twinkle Khanna, who is venturing into production for the first time is also expected to join the shoot. A large production unit has been at work in Maheshwar, a town in the Khargone district of Madhya Pradesh 90 km from Indore and home to one of India’s oldest hand-loom fabric traditions. Padman is being shot at real locations, including the river-side temples, ghats, forts and palaces. Apart from Padman, Sonam Kapoor will next start the shoot of her home production Veere Di Wedding, alongside Kareena Kapoor Khan. The Shashanka Ghosh directorial is expected to roll in June this year. She also has Rajkumar Hirani’s Ranbir Kapoor starrer Sanjay Dutt biopic, where her role is said to be the amalgamation of Sanjay Dutt’s various relationships of the past.
