Since the time it was revealed in the post credit scenes of Deadpool that Deadpool 2 is on the cards and will feature Cable in them, fandom went bonkers and has been speculating and suggesting who should play the said role. Several names have been speculated by fans – be it former James Bond, Pierce Brosnan or Gladiator star, Russell Crowe. But if recent reports are to be believed, then the role might be played by Stranger Things star, David Harbour. And he’s even done some screen tests with Deadpool Ryan Reynolds himself.
Well, we might be on the cusp of finally getting an official announcement for the big screen, Cable. Earlier there were strong reports of Pierce Brosnan being a strong contender for the role as well. It all started when Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds and Wolverine star Hugh Jackman’s took to their social media accounts and posted a pic each, with all three of them together. The caption on Ryan Reynolds’s post read, “Wolvie. Bond. Wade.” and similarly, on Hugh Jackman’s it read, “#wolverinebonddeadpool”.
But nothing further was reported.
In the comic books, Cable aka Nathan Summers is the son of Cyclops aka Scott Summers and Madelyne Pryor (Jean Grey’s clone). He possesses time travel, telepathy, telekinesis, and technopathy abilities. The pair of Deadpool and Cable have been favourite buddy characters of comic book readers during their original run from 2004 to 2008.
The recent release No Good Deed teaser of Deadpool 2 ahead of Logan, too, teased the entry of Cable aka Nathan Summers into the X-Men world.
Deadpool 2 will be directed by David Leitch from a screenplay by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. The film stars Ryan Reynolds as Wade Wilson, aka Deadpool. It’s currently in pre-production.
