Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt stepped out in their on screen avatars for the trailer launch of their upcoming film Badrinath Ki Dulhania. Dressed in a white kurta black pajama and Nehru jacket Varun looked dapper, while Alia chose a red and golden cold shoulder gown.
The duo was joined by their mentor and Dharma Productions head honcho Karan Johar and their film BKD director Shashank Khaitan on stage as they unveiled their movie’s trailer to the press and fans on social media. Karan Johar in the very beginning of the chat KJo confessed that he plans three films in the love franchise.
Karan also confirmed that Shashank would helm even the third film as and when it goes on floor. Karan joked and said that he was there to do the “kanyadaan” of Alia and Varun and left everyone in splits.
During an interaction with the gathered media, Varun said, “Don’t know about wife, but she (Alia) will be a good bahu”. Alia cross questioned Varun and asked why she wouldn’t make a good wife? Varun tried to justify and revealed that they had never experienced the post marriage scenario on screen and hence couldn’t tell if she’ll make a good wife. Alia goes on to probe Varun further and Karan Johar joins her.
Varun is left red faced in this interaction and finally KJo decides to spare him and asks the reporters to move on and ask another question.
Varun also revealed that he got drunk to get into his Badrinath character. The actor said, “I consumed a lot of alcohol for this film. The character goes through ups and downs. I was very snappy on the sets. I snapped a lot on Alia.”
Also when Varun director Shashank was asked if David Dhawan’s son reminded him of Govinda here’s what he had to say – “I don’t see any Govinda in Varun. I hope he makes his own identity”.
Varun and Alia were also asked about their successful inning in Bollywood. While Alia went on to describe how it wasn’t the kind of cinema but roles that excited her the most and spoke of how all she wanted to be was an actor, Varun when quizzed about their offbeat choices said, “There are good and bad films and we want to do good ones”.
Varun also revealed that his biggest nightmare would be to see someone yawn while watching him on screen. And going by Varun’s entertaining performances so far we’re sure he doesn’t have to worry much.
Badrinath Ki Dulhania will release this year on March 10. Will Alia–Varun pairing get a thumbs up and make a hattrick? Well, let’s wait and watch…
