Did you know, not Rock On!! but The Fakir Of Venice was supposed to be Farhan Akhtar’s acting debut but for some reason, the film couldn’t release then and is now making its way to the big screen next month. But one thing that is grabbing the eyeballs is its lead Farhan Akhtar not promoting the film. According to Mid-day, an insider revealed, “The makers have been trying to get in touch with Farhan for a while but in vain. He may be busy with other commitments, but they are hoping to receive a reply at least.”
Farhan is already working on his next, Lucknow Central, which is currently being shot in Uttar Pradesh. The source added, “The Fakir of Venice got stuck when the producers changed, but the issue has been resolved and the film is ready for release. It is the director’s debut project too.”
Producer Punit Desai, however, maintained, “We are in talks for dubbing certain parts and exploring the opportunity for a promotional song with Farhan and AR Rahman.”
Director Surapur said, “Farhan and I go back a long way. He has always been supportive of my endeavours.”
The Fakir of Venice is said to be inspired by filmmaker Homi Adajania’s real experiences during his travels and was screened at various international film festivals.
Directed by Anand Surapur and produced by Punit Desai (October Films), the film also stars Annu Kapoor, Kamal Sidhu, Italian actress Valentina Carnelutti and German actor Mathieu Carriere. The Fakir of Venice was shot in Mumbai, Banaras, Ladakh and Venice. Also read: Farhan Akhtar looks quirky on the first poster of The Fakir of Venice
